San Mateo-Foster City Elementary School District officials claim a proposed parcel tax extension is necessary to hire the best teachers and offer vital programs while opponents believe the measure is undeserved.

District voters are asked to support extending the local elementary school district’s existing $209 parcel tax for 7 more years in an all-mail election with ballots already in the mail or arrived and due Tue March 28.

He pointed to Governor Jerry Brown allocating an estimated $15,000 per Calif. student in the most recent budget proposal as a sizable investment in the public education system.
